TRIATHALON!!!

Yep, I did it!!!! It was an exhausting, awesome, experience and I am going to do it next year again for sure. It was all Relief Society sisters, so no one was really out for blood. Just good ol fashion honest competition. Swimming was first and luckily I was in the first group to start. I'm not a great swimmer, but I can keep my head above water. That's me waving in the white swim cap. The swim was 1/4 mile. I had practiced swimming in the lake near our house so I felt pretty prepared. The lady in charge measured a 1/4 mile and dropped a bouey in the water. What she forgot was that we still had to swim back! So our 1/4 mile swim was a 1/2 mile! It might not sound like a lot to you athletes out there, but I was not the only one completly exhausted when we pulled our sorry selves out of the water.

Next was the 13 mile bike ride. I was excited to sit down. I did pretty well and made up for some lost swimming time. There were a few hills but nothing to major. Actually, this was my favorite out of the 3.

Running is NOT my favorite. When I got off the bike, I was feeling very tired and not wanting to run. I had 3 miles to go and then I'd be done. I walked a little bit and then I'd sprint until I was tired, then a quick, brisk, walk until I got my breathe back, then sprint again.

With the finish line almost in sight, I saw a gloriuos thing. Mason and Tyler were waiting for me about a half mile to the end. Mason was sitting on a big tree stump holding my Gatorade. When he saw me, he jumped down and handed me my drink. I slowed down a bit and took a few gulps. And then my sweet, sweet boy ran the rest of the race with me. He and I were running side by side, and with the finish line a few feet away, we held hands and finished together. SO AWESOME!!!
I am proud of myself, I love my family for their awesome support, and I love that Mason ran to the finish with me. What a tiring, awesome, experience for me. I am training to do it again. Maybe by next year I'll like running. Mmmm maybe not.

You were awesome Becky!!!
The bike ride is definitely the favorite for me too...especially with padded shorts. ;)
Kyle says I'm quitting cold turkey on training but I will be training this winter...breathing under water in my bathtub.
