TITANIC

Titanic. I have a fascination with this ship. I like the movie, but the fact that it's based on a true, real live thing that happened just gets me. I have read a few books about it and love the history. The Titanic went down 97 years ago today.

So in honor of the ill fated ship, we had dinner at sea tonight. I prepared a menu and got to work in the kitchen. With a little help from Celine we had dinner pre- prepared in no time.

I got the table prepared and looking quite fancy.

You might not be able to see that the table is actually slightly on a downward slope. :) After this I got the kids in their church clothes and then we put on life Jackets. Hee hee. Tyler came home and we left a note for him to go to the front door. After we were in position, I you-tubed Nearer my God to thee. We let him inside and there we stood in our life jackets and half tilted dinner table. It was so much fun. We sat down to a delicious dinner (if I do say so myself), and ate with our life jackets on. I was surprised that the kids weren't complaining to take it off.

So that's our experience aboard the famous R.M.S. Titanic. Wow 97 years. Tyler said" What will we do when we celebrate 100 years." My reply-" How about a cruise?" :) :)

I will now end with the words to a Canadian song about the ship.

'Oh they built the ship Titanic to sail the ocean blue, and they thought they built a ship that the water would never go through, But the good Lord raised his hand, said" This ship will never land, oh it was saaad when the great ship went down.

Chorus- It was sad, so sad, it was sad, so sad, it was sad when the great ship went down to the bottom of the ... husbands and wives little children lost their lives, it was saaad when the great ship went down. Kerplunk, it sunk ,what a lousy piece of junk, the end. Splash.'

Crazy Canucks around the campfire.

I have a 3 comments...

#1--how incredibly fun are YOU?? You inspire me Beck. Seriously. You're family is so lucky to have such a fun mom!!

#2--I am semi-obsessed with the Titanic too. And not necessarily the movie. (although I love that) But if there's a documentary on the Titanic...I have a hard time resisting!

#3--Once, in our ward talent show, a funny old couple in our ward decided that their talent would be to dress up in life jackets, and hand out the words to that song. Then they led the ward to sing all 800 verses...at a super slow pace. By the end my row (which was a bunch of my friends) was BEGGING for the ship to go down. In fact I think one of us was heard to say, "When is this damn ship going to sink, already?" Yep. We swore in the church gym. Seriously, it was so drawn out....I kind of think the Lord understood.

Love the idea, how in the heck did you come up with that? Please can you rub some of your creative genes off on me somehow? Or I'll just start copying you...

You are the most FUN, most CREATIVE mom EVER!!! I just couldn't help but LAUGH & LAUGH through the whole post. One thing though, you left out how on the mish you would take your baths and splash and splash around while you said, and I quote..."I will never let go Jack, I will never let go...Promise me Rose, promise me you will live..." Oh how I miss hearing that each morning!!
