O.k. well I'm certainly NOT mom of the year today. With today being the start of mid-winter break, I had Mason home from school all day. He woke up early and was cranky from the get go because we had stayed up late last night to watch UP. Enter arguing and fighting all morning long. I couldn't handle it. I went in the boy's room to escape the bickering and started to clean. Well, we were selling 2 barstools to a lady off Craigslist and she happened to come to the door as Natalie started crying and Mason started saying that it was her fault. "Ding Dong, Ding Dong". As I came to the already opened door, the lady introduced herself and I to her. Then I said, " It's your lucky day. 2 free kids come with the barstools!" She laughs and says," No thanks I have plenty of my own."
Anyway, after I tell her to go around to the garage, I shut the front door and did what the parenting books say are a big no no. I turned to the kids and said," I've had it with the fighting and the arguing this morning. It stops right now! Now, who wants to go live with that lady?" Mason freezes and doesn't move. Natalie says," I do!" And runs to her room to get her shoes. I go to the garage and sell this really nice lady our barstools, all the while we're laughing about how hard it can be sometimes to raise kids. And how picking up after them can be a real chore. We shake hands and she starts to pull down the driveway. I go inside to a crying Nat who says," I wanted to go with that nice lady." Ummm way to go Beck. Way to go.

heehee!! I am pretty sure we ALL have moments like that...I know I do daily :)
Luckily tomorrow is a new day with a fresh start right?!?
That is SO funny! I have threatened my kids with the "do you want to go to another family and live with them?!" Usually after they have been complaining about my method of raising them...of course I always tell them that no other mom is as nice as me and no other house is as nice as ours.
You really are between a rock and a hard place with the "nice lady" starring you in the face after your big threat though.
Thanks for the good laugh!
You're still Mom of the year, Beck! And if they want to go live with that other lady...fine....they will no longer be living with the Mom of the Year. They'll soon find out it's much better to stay put!!
Awesome story! Poor Natalie. Tell her she can come live with me. :)
